Kassey Wang Director of Education
As the Director of Education, Kassey’s main objective is to research and develop new methods of teaching Chinese that make learning and retaining the language materials progressively easier.  Kassey has an extensive background in language studies and educational training.  Originally from Beijing, Kassey received degrees in Education and Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language from Zhengzhou in China.  While only an undergraduate, she was already teaching a client base of over one-hundred university students.  Upon her graduation, she returned to Beijing, where she helped to start a language training center.  Then in 2005, Kassey relocated to the booming international city of Shanghai, where she founded a second foreign language training center.
Kassey is responsible for personally handpicking, interviewing, and training each teacher at Mando Mandarin.   She also has authored two manuscripts that shorten the learning curve for beginners.   Her extensive experience with hundreds of students from all over the world makes her an expert at understanding the language needs of students from any country or background.  As a world-class teacher and teacher-trainer, Kassey is regularly sought out by Fortune 500 companies in Shanghai for her ability to teach outstanding Business Chinese courses.  Some of her previous students have come from international companies such as GM China, IKEA, PF AsiaDirect, and ProMod.  Kassey fervently believes that the repetition of “small bites” is the mother of success when it comes to learning a new language.  “It’s not the number of hours you spend cramming in a single course or lesson that counts; what will really help you is regularly learning little-by-little over a long-term period.”
The founder of Mando Mandarin, Michael Cheng, is a Chinese-American entrepreneur who was born and raised in New York. While studying Business at New York University, he began to realize the importance of being able to proficiently communicate in Chinese.

In 2006, he began to spend considerable time researching Chinese language programs throughout the United States in order to discover the most effective way to learn Chinese. Michael tried Chinese schools, web-based programs, downloadable tutorials, and self-study programs using software, books, mp3s, and videos. He wanted to find out which learning method or program delivered the FASTEST RESULTS in the shortest amount of time.

During his research, Michael noticed three major flaws in most Chinese language programs:

-Flaw #1: “Are students dozing off in class?” The average Chinese student is unable to retain a majority of the information he or she learns during class unless he or she spends many hours at home self-studying. Chinese lessons need to allow students to be MORE ACTIVE while learning!

-Flaw #2: “What did he just say?” Saying a word in Chinese is one thing, but having a Chinese person understand you is another. After completing a Chinese program, students still have a hard time speaking Mandarin with the right tones, or still speak with very heavy accents. Chinese schools, software, and self-study programs are not letting a student to get enough CONVERSATIONAL PRACTICE!

-Flaw #3: “Is Chinese being taught the right way?” Some students, even Chinese-Americans who had gone to Chinese schools for nearly five years, were still not good at Chinese. Traditional schooling is NOT THE MOST EFFICIENT way to learn Chinese!

Conclusion: There must be a BETTER WAY to learn Chinese!

In early 2007, Michael moved to Shanghai, China, in order to find a more effective language program among Chinese native speakers. After working with several language experts, he discovered that the BEST WAY TO LEARN CHINESE is with a private, highly trained, and certified language instructor and customized lessons that use a teaching method and materials that are proven to work. Soon after, Michael and the language experts had begun to systematize the teaching method and recruit an incredible team of certified Mandarin teachers. At the end of 2007, Michael and his team of language consultants created Mando Mandarin so that everyone could learn Mandarin online with the MANDO METHOD!
