Why should I learn Chinese?
Below are just a few of the reasons why everyone should learn Mandarin.
Prepare For the Future
There’s no telling how soon it will be before China begins to rival the U.S. as the world’s economic leader. Given the rapid growth of China’s economy, everyone should at least learn to speak Mandarin. The dragon has risen from its slumber and, for over a decade, has continued to grow at a double-digit rate. At this rate, it is difficult even for experts to determine how much economic and cultural influence China will have on the world over the next several decades.
Open New Doors For Yourself
China is regarded as this century’s largest global market. There are over 1.3 billion people in China, and China has over one-trillion US dollars in reserves. As its economy grows, so does its hunger for everything: technology, resources, dynamic leadership, services, educated businesspeople, labor, science, consumer products, and the list goes on… Proficient speakers of Mandarin will find they have an enormous advantage over their competition when seeking new jobs or business opportunities in today’s business arena.
25% Of the World’s Population is Chinese
Chinese is the most common and oldest language in the world. With nearly ¼ of the world’s population being Chinese, Mandarin is the second most important language besides English. Mandarin is already the third-most spoken language in the United States.
A Billion New Customers
“You can buy in your own language, but if you want to SELL, you have to SELL to people in the language they speak.”

China is poised to become the world’s largest consumer marketplace. With a billion Mandarin speaking consumers soon to enlist in the world’s marketplace, the huge demand by multinational businesses to learn Chinese or build Chinese-speaking teams is very real.
Is it difficult to learn the Chinese language?
Chinese is a complicated language with a strong correlation to China’s profound culture. Learning the language can be difficult. To make it easier, it is essential for a Mandarin student to be properly schooled from beginning to end. We know that when it comes to learning Mandarin, proper schooling means having a private teacher, a personalized course, and a system that has been tested and proven to work.

What are the different ways to learn Chinese?
The three most common methods to learn Chinese are regular classes at a university or private language school, self-study using a variety of software, books, or audio programs, and by private tutor.

When it comes to a language as complex as Chinese, there are flaws to taking regular classes and self-study. First, a regular class will not usually allow you to learn at your own pace, nor will you have sufficient time to practice speaking with a native speaker. Self-study may be the least expensive way to go, but the biggest downside is not having someone correct you when you make a mistake. You can spend months teaching yourself Chinese only to find out later on that you have been using the wrong tones or your accent is completely off.

There are four distinct tones in Chinese, and to misuse a tone can totally change the meaning of a word. For example, the word for “mother” is “ma” in the first tone. A slight mispronunciation of “ma” can change its definition into the word “horse” or “curse!”

You will find that self-study requires a lot of time and is harder than you think.
Private tutoring is the most effective method because it allows for personalized instruction and sufficient time to practice conversation with a native speaker.

In other words, you learn WHAT you want to learn, WHEN you want to learn it, at your own pace… and your tutor will make sure you get it right
.

The drawback with private tutoring is that it can be very expensive and very difficult to find a qualified and certified Chinese teacher. But you don’t have to worry anymore…

Now you can learn Chinese with your own affordable Mando Mandarin tutor!

How much time and effort does it take to learn Chinese?
The answer to this question depends on what level of Chinese fluency or proficiency you would like to attain. It also depends on what method of learning you choose.
Read FAQ: What are the different ways to learn Chinese? for more on the ways to learn.

We recommend beginner students take private 2-hour Chinese lessons at least three times a week. Using the Mando Method, in as little as ten hours, a beginner student should be able to use Survival Mandarin.

Also keep in mind that the MANDO METHOD does not require students to do any homework or self-study.

We only suggest that beginner students not take-off too many days in a row from learning Chinese because the average beginner student may quickly forget what he has learned if he does not regularly make use of the language. Therefore, we also recommend that each student have a Chinese-speaking peer with whom to regularly practice conversation.
